The best overall model for business work, and it trades blows with ChatGPT rather than running away with it.

Where it wins for me is sustained, long-form tasks. If I ask it to work through something substantial, it works through the whole thing rather than producing a sample and stopping.

It is also the one I trust most to say it is unsure, which matters more than it sounds when you are acting on the answer.

ChatGPT

Capable, widely integrated, and the one most people already have. It genuinely competes with Claude on quality.

My complaint is laziness, and I mean that specifically. Give it a long-form business task, like auditing a spreadsheet, and it will do the task five rows at a time. Then it stops and waits for you to ask again.

For a business owner, that is the difference between delegating a job and supervising one. You did not want a conversation, you wanted the audit.

Gemini

An excellent general-purpose model and a genuinely good fit for most people who just need a capable assistant.

It is also the one I reach for when a plan limit runs out somewhere else, and it picks up the slack without much fuss.

For my own work I mostly use it for image and video generation rather than text. ChatGPT's images are good, though I would still give the edge to Nano Banana. That is a narrow use, and it is where Gemini earns its place in my stack.

Meta Muse

The one worth paying attention to, and the reason this post exists.

The free tier behaves like a genuinely helpful assistant rather than a demo of one. It is easy to use, it does not constantly push you toward an upgrade, and for a business owner who has never set any of this up it is the least intimidating starting point of the four.

There is a real catch, and it needs stating plainly rather than tucked into a footnote.

Your business data goes to Meta. Whatever you put in, you are handing to a company whose business model is built on knowing things about people. If you handle customer records, anything confidential, or anything under an agreement, that alone rules it out.

If you do not, and you are not already invested in ChatGPT or Claude, Meta Muse is arguably the best option available to most business owners right now. That is an uncomfortable sentence to write and I think it is true.

What I Would Actually Tell You

Already paying for one? Stay. The gap between Claude and ChatGPT is smaller than the cost of relearning your workflow.

Starting from nothing, handling sensitive data? Claude, for the long-form work and the willingness to admit uncertainty.

Starting from nothing, data is not sensitive? Meta Muse, honestly. Try it on the free tier before you pay anyone.

Want one model for everything including images? Gemini is the most complete single answer.

The bigger point is that none of these choices is permanent or expensive to reverse. Pick one, use it on real work for a month, and change your mind if it disappoints you. The cost of choosing wrong is much lower than the cost of not starting.
