Far less exotic than the phrase suggests. Mostly it is connecting a capable model to the systems you already run, then automating the repeated work around them.
I run this on my own work before I recommend it to anyone. Custom integrations against Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads and Sheets in production, and local models on hardware I own.
The value is in choosing what to hand over and putting a review step where judgement matters. The technology is the easy half, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling the technology.
What It Costs, and Where It Pays Off
Independent AI consultants generally charge between $150 and $350 an hour, and a small business automating two or three workflows budgets a few thousand a month. I lead with a fixed-price audit so you see the plan and the numbers before committing to a build.
It pays off on high volume repeated work: briefs, first drafts, extraction, monitoring. It does not pay off on anything carrying your opinion, and I will tell you which is which rather than automate both and take the fee.
Same principle as everything else I do. I take on few enough clients that I can afford to talk you out of the parts that will not work.
