Shopify Apps That Actually Boost Sales
Browse the Shopify App Store and you will find 13,000 apps promising to double your revenue. Install five of them and your store slows to a crawl, your checkout breaks, and your monthly app bill eats your margin.
I install the same short list on most stores. Each one earns its keep. Here it is.
Klaviyo for Email and SMS
Email is still the highest-margin channel in ecommerce. Klaviyo is the default for Shopify because the integration is deep and the flows are powerful.
Set up these flows on day one: welcome series, abandoned cart, abandoned browse, post-purchase, win-back, replenishment. Those six flows alone usually generate 20 to 30 percent of total store revenue once they are dialed in.
I cover the comparison in email marketing vs SEO.
Loox for Photo Reviews
Star ratings do not sell product. Customer photos do. Loox pushes a review request email after delivery and rewards photo uploads with a discount on the next order. The grid widget on your product page is the single biggest trust signal you can add.
Stores that switch from text-only reviews to photo reviews see conversion lift of 10 to 25 percent on product pages.
Privy for Pop-Ups That Convert
Pop-ups have a bad reputation because most stores use them wrong. Privy lets you trigger based on exit intent, scroll depth, and cart value, so you can show the right offer at the right moment. Pair it with Klaviyo to capture emails and route into your welcome flow.
Smile.io for Loyalty
Repeat customers are 5x more profitable than new ones. Smile.io runs a points and rewards program that gives customers a reason to come back. Tier your rewards so VIP customers get exclusive perks and early access drops.
Bold Upsell for AOV
Average order value is the cheapest growth lever in ecommerce. Bold Upsell shows targeted offers in the cart and on product pages. A two-pack upsell at 15 percent off lifts AOV without burning margin.
Recharge for Subscriptions
If your product is consumable, you need a subscription option. Recharge is the most mature subscription app on Shopify. It handles billing, customer portal, and dunning out of the box. Build subscribe and save into your default product layout and watch LTV climb.
Shopify Search and Discovery
This one is free and built by Shopify. It gives you proper site search, related products, filtering, and synonym mapping. If a customer searches for "tee" and your product is tagged "t-shirt," the default search returns nothing. Search and Discovery fixes that.
What to Skip
Speed boost apps. Most of them inject scripts that slow your store down. Fix speed properly by auditing your theme.
Currency converter apps if you are using Shopify Markets. Markets handles this natively.
Page builders unless your theme is genuinely limiting. Modern themes already include section builders.
