Best AI Copywriters for Shopify Stores

Every Shopify store needs three kinds of copy: product descriptions, collection page text, and blog content. Writing all of it by hand is a tax on your time. AI copywriters take that tax to near zero if you use them right.

Here are the tools I run on actual stores, what each one is good at, and where you should still write by hand.

What an AI Copywriter Does for a Shopify Store

An AI copywriter is a model trained on text that you prompt with context. You give it a product, a tone, a keyword target, and it returns a draft. The good ones save you 80 percent of the typing. The bad ones produce SEO mush that Google now penalizes.

The job is not to ship AI text raw. The job is to use AI to get from blank page to 70 percent done in five minutes, then edit the last 30 percent yourself.

The Tools Worth Your Time

ChatGPT (GPT-5) is the workhorse. It handles product descriptions, FAQs, blog outlines, and long-form drafts. Pay for the Plus plan, build a custom GPT loaded with your brand voice and product specs, and you have a copywriter that knows your store.

Claude (Opus and Sonnet) is my pick for longer-form blog work. It holds context better, handles nuance better, and the writing reads less like a template. If you are publishing weekly SEO content, run it through Claude. I compared the two in detail in Gemini vs ChatGPT and Gemini vs Claude.

Shopify Magic is built into your admin. Click into any product, hit the Magic button, and Shopify drafts a description from your title and metadata. It is fast for bulk catalog work. The output is generic, so edit it.

Copy.ai is built for marketing teams. Its templates for ad copy, email subject lines, and landing page hooks are tighter than ChatGPT's defaults. If you are a one-person store, you can skip it.

Rytr still has a free tier with 10,000 monthly characters. Good for solo founders writing meta descriptions and short ad copy on a budget.

How to Use AI for Shopify Blog Content That Ranks

Google's helpful content updates killed thin AI articles. Here is the workflow that still ranks:

  1. Pull a keyword with real volume from Ahrefs or Semrush. Aim for KD under 30 if you are under DR 30.
  2. Read the top three results yourself. Note the angle each one takes.
  3. Prompt Claude or ChatGPT with your keyword, your unique angle, your product context, and your brand voice. Ask for an outline first.
  4. Approve the outline. Then have the model draft section by section.
  5. Edit every section yourself. Add a personal anecdote, a screenshot, a piece of original data. Something a model could not have written.
  6. Publish with proper H2 structure, internal links, and a clear CTA.

The shortcut is skipping the blank page, not the editing. For more on AI search and ranking, see what matters about AI search and GEO vs SEO.

What to Stop Using AI For

Trust signals on your homepage. Founder story. About page. Customer testimonials. Anything that needs to sound like a human and not a brand. Write those yourself.
