After auditing hundreds of small business sites, here are the five moves I make first.

This is the foundation. Before anyone clicks through to your website, they see your Google Business Profile in the map pack. If your hours are wrong, your phone number is outdated, or you have zero reviews, you lose the click.
Get every field filled out. Hours, services, categories, photos, website link, booking link if you have one. Then go ask your last 20 happy customers for a review by text. A short personal ask gets a five-star review about 30% of the time. A generic email blast gets you maybe 2%.

2. Prioritize Mobile First
Most local searches happen on a phone. Google indexes the mobile version of your site first, so a desktop-first design will quietly cap your rankings.
